Instinctual Drift
Hey! I'm Keertana, a psychology major, a writer and a traveller. My blog is all about "drifting" through time, space, thoughts and ideas. My greatest inspiration is travel and capturing of moments. As I drift through a place to another I'd like to share some of my experiences through the journey. I'd greatly appreciate it, if you go through each and respond. Feel free to comment on any of them. Exploring Meghalaya
Sipping hot Tea, in cold weather. At Shillong peak.

On the way to cherrapunjee. Unbelievably scenic.

Umiam Lake, on the way to Shillong. A place called paradise.
Near Dawki Village. This river extends to Bangladesh. So blue, with pretty boats.
One cannot miss visiting Mawlynnong Village, supposedly the Cleanest village in Asia. It was Very very pretty and clean.
Finally, just further from the village of Mawlynnong, is the Root Bridge, naturally created by tree roots.

Kerala | Kochi | Alleppey
It all started off at Kochi. I happened to visit Fort Kochi on the first day, and ran into this incredible cafe, which is well known in Kochi. It's called Kashi Art Cafe. Inside the cafe were these amazing works of art. The food was absolutely delicious, and their breads were full of flavour. If you happen to be in Kochi do pay a visit here.

A wanderer's Travel Guide
I think travelling to different places is essential to one's well-being in life. The word 'travel' could indicate a journey of experiences and situations in various aspects in one's life. I,however, am referring in this case, to travelling to different places and experiencing different cultures and new situations. You learn about various things that exist beyond what you've already known to exist. One tends to break the "bubble" of the known and reach the unknown that exists outside this bubble. By doing this, one also learns more about oneself by observing how they deal with new situations.
This article is, thus, a guide to travelling efficiently. You could keep certain factors in mind while travelling anywhere.
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHILE TRAVELLING ANYWHERE:
1. Packing:
The key to experiencing your travel to the fullest is "feeling comfortable", and having the things you usually carry with you. Thus the formula to packing well is Prioritising+Packing Light. Each individual may pack differently which could help their own needs and necessities during the travel. Some essentials that I would carry with me includes comfortable clothing (number depending on the days of travel), plenty of inner wear, tissues and towels, A snack or two, Water, one to two books, headphones and mobile phone(with charger and Power-bank Chargers). Thus I prioritise the things I need most as well as keep in mind to travel light.
2. Mode of Transport:
Essentially keep in mind the cost of travelling to this place, as well as the duration of travel. Think of all alternatives of travelling. It could be travel by road, train or flight. Pick the most efficient way that you think is right for you.
3.Observe and Pay Attention:
Every place is different. In each place a different culture may prevail. The people may look different, behave differently, greet differently, may have different social norms, may speak different languages, eat different kinds of food and follow different religions of traditions. The place may look completely new. Mentally list down these things and absorb them into yourself while travelling to a specific place. The key here is simply to pay attention. Let go of burdens from home and thoughts of home and people from home, just for a while. Now that your in a new place you need to simply live in the moment and pay attention.
4. Be Flexible:
Things don't always go as you plan them. Be flexible and be prepared for the unexpected at all times. Travel is about change. You can always have an approximate plan and schedule for your travel. But never be exact. Always be spontaneous and prepared to go with the flow. Interact with people from the place. Ask the locals more about the places as they'd always give you better suggestions. Take them.
5. Experience Things as the Locals Would:
Interacting and observing the people who are from the place could give you a better idea and experience. Always be sure to try the local and native dishes from the place. Get a glimpse of traditions and practises and thus of their culture. Experiencing things as the locals would, would surely inspire something new in each one of us.

Noise and Silence.
One quiet morning, i walked through an empty lane which was otherwise filled with vehicals, carts, pedestrians and road side stalls. The noise that persisted through the day seemed almost non-existent. The silence of the morning seemed almost uncomfortable.
The silence was filled with sounds. The sounds of fear, rage, anguish, sorrow and of bliss. One could not miss the overpowering sounds of indifference. Indifference must be distinguished from that of ignorance. The jumble of sounds seemed to echo from the past, a distant present and a threatening future. This made it almost impossible to distinguish noise from silence.
